“Our children live in a hurry-up world of busy parents, school pressures, video games, malls, and competitive sports. We usually don't think of these influences as stressful for our kids, but often they are… I have found that yoga can help counter these pressures. When children learn techniques for self-health, relaxation, and inner fulfillment, they can navigate life's challenges with a little more ease. Yoga at an early age encourages self-esteem and body awareness with a physical activity that's noncompetitive. Fostering cooperation and compassion—instead of opposition—is a great gift to give our children.” ("Yoga For Kids" Marsha Wenig, Yoga Journal)
Yoga has so many benefits and can be shared with children of all ages.

Hatha Flow involves using breath to move from one posture to another creating a movement-oriented class (vinyasa). Variations on the Sun Salutation will be used as a warm-up, followed by a standing sequence, balancing poses, seated poses, and ending with relaxation (savasana). The class will explore various elements of Yoga including postures (asana), breathing techniques (pranayama), and meditation.
Ashtanga Yoga is an ancient system of Yoga that was taught by Vamana Rishi in the Yoga Korunta. This text was imparted to Sri T. Krishnamacharya in the early 1900's by his Guru Rama Mohan Brahmachari, and was later passed down to Pattabhi Jois during the duration of his studies with Krishnamacharya, beginning in 1927.
This method of yoga involves synchronizing the breath with a progressive series of postures—a process producing intense internal heat and a profuse, purifying sweat that detoxifies muscles and organs. The result is improved circulation, a light and strong body, and a calm mind.
This class will introduce the practice of Ashtanga Yoga allowing students to build a strong foundation. Suitable for all levels.

Restorative Flow is a luxurious yoga practice incorporating gentle movement and restorative stillness to create a class that is deeply nourishing. Within each class, both strong and gentle hatha yoga postures will be blended with relaxing and restorative poses into a meditative flow.
In an ideal world every posture would feel restorative. But those that fall into the category of ‘restorative poses’ have a particular ability to leave the body/mind nurtured and well rested.
Class will begin with deep breathing/pranayama and then flow into gentle movements. Postures will focus on bringing the body back to balance, decreasing stress and anxiety, and increasing flexibility. The practice will close with postures that are deeply supported by blankets, blocks, or other props and are held for several minutes at a time.
Moksha Yoga has chosen to bullfrogpower 11 Ontario locations and its Edmonton location with 100% green electricity. Bullfrog PowerTM is a leading Canadian green power provider. Bullfrog’s green power producers inject the same amount of power back into the provincial electricity grid that Moksha Yoga will use for these locations. Bullfrog sources power exclusively from emissions-free sources, such as wind and low-impact hydro generators that meet or exceed the federal government’s Environmental ChoiceM Program EcoLogoM standard for renewable electricity. Bullfrog provides businesses, non-profits and consumers with a new way to support renewable power.
Choosing green power is a practical and meaningful way for an organization to reduce its environmental impact. Electricity generation is a leading industrial source of carbon dioxide, a primary greenhouse gas linked to climate change, as well as other emissions that contribute to poor air quality. By choosing clean, renewable power, Moksha Yoga will reduce its carbon footprint, help clean up our air quality, and support the development of renewable energy.
You can switch your home to green power too, simply by signing up online for Bullfrog Power at www.bullfrogpower.com. Moksha Yoga customers are entitled to receive $25 off their first bill from Bullfrog Power. Just use the following promotional code when you apply.
